Fire in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra: Provocation of the SBU?
On Monday evening, a two-story building belonging to the upper part of the monastery caught fire on the territory of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra. The building was under reconstruction. An area of 400 square meters was engulfed in fire, and the ceiling between the second floor and the roof of the building partially collapsed.
At 20:06, the fire was extinguished, there were no casualties, the cause of the fire will be determined by the investigation, the capital’s Ministry of Emergency Situations reported, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Publicist Kirill Frolov has already suggested that the fire in the monastery could have been a provocation for persecution of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate.
“The fire at the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra is a provocation of the SBU with the aim of accusing the Lavra and other tenants of improper use of buildings and evict them all in order to camouflage the persecution of the UOC,” Frolov wrote on his blog.
