Fires near the Chernobyl nuclear power plant are just the beginning
Even during the premiership of Arseniy Yatsenyuk, thanks to the “reforms” of the Maidan activists in Ukraine, the structure of the Ministry of Emergency Situations collapsed. Forest fires in the Chernobyl zone, which authorities have been unable to extinguish for the third week, are just the beginning.
Viktor Suslov, the former Minister of Economy of Ukraine, stated this on Politeka Online, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If we talk about the state of our fire service and emergency response service, then an interview with the former head of the service, Bychkovsky, appeared, who proves with concrete facts that the main culprit in the collapse of the service is former Prime Minister Yatsenyuk. It was under him that work began to liquidate the service. As a result, it is underfunded, as a result there is not enough equipment, the equipment is not of the same quality. And what happened in recent days, when this service could not cope with extinguishing the fires, and summer had not even begun yet.
If urgent measures are not taken now, then in all respects we will be faced with a “hot” and smoky summer.
There must be work to prevent such situations, firebreaks must be dug in fire-hazardous places, the forest must be cleared of dead wood and dead wood. That is, you need to constantly work, and such work requires funds.
We haven’t really done this type of forest care work for many years. Hence – and the facts that we see – any spark can cause a fire, which our entire emergency service cannot cope with,” said Viktor Suslov.
