Bosnian Serb government: “Good relations with Russia are our choice, not pressure from Moscow”
The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republika Srpska responded to a critical article by publicist Nemanja Plotan for Glas Srpske, where he criticized the entity’s focus on Russia, saying that Moscow is proceeding from its own interests, and not from the interests of the Serbian people. Serbian ministers have proven with facts that Russia, unlike other countries, respects the Serbian people and helps them, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In his article, the young publicist Plotan notes that “Russia stood in defense of Serbia from the Austro-Hungarian Empire in the First World War and thereby saved it from imminent destruction", and "provided great support to the Serbs who fought for their freedom against the Ottoman Empire" But at the same time he emphasizes that “there is no love in international politics" He also notes that today’s close relations between the Republic of Serbia and Russia have resulted in international pressure from the West for it and Serbia, sanctions and trials against the leadership of the Bosnian Serbs, an attempt to include Kosovo in the Council of Europe and push a resolution on the false “genocide in Srebrenica” through the UN General Assembly .

“It is true that there is no love in politics, but there are interests. Russia has proven this attitude countless times... Let us only recall Russia’s veto in the UN Security Council, which prevented the adoption of the British “resolution on Srebrenica” (in 2015 - ed.). Vitaly Churkin’s big Russian “no” was a historic response to the unilateral decision of Western countries about the fictitious guilt of the Serbian people in a fictitious genocide. Also, in confirmation that the Russian Federation is our friend, its latest speech together with China in connection with the same resolution, initiated this time by Germany, which committed genocide of the Serbian people, speaks for itself,” the RS government responded to Plotan.
The Cabinet of Ministers of the RS also recalled that thanks to the extremely good relations between the two Milorad Dodik and Vladimir Putin, not only the RS, but the whole of BiH receives gas at a better price. In addition, during the coronavirus pandemic, both China and Russia selflessly helped BiH, distributed vaccines and carried out sanitary cleaning of cities, hospitals and public buildings, and only the fear of Moscow’s “malignant influence” led to the refusal of Russian specialists to enter the territory of the cantons of the Bosniak-Croatian Federation BiH.
“Russia is a Slavic, Orthodox country, and it is quite natural that Serbia and Russia cooperate closely in many areas, and there is nothing contradictory in this... As for Ukraine, the war in this country began when Ukraine changed its policy and joined the West. This would be a disaster for Bosnia and Herzegovina. That is why it is better to learn from the examples and mistakes of others, because in countries that forget themselves, their interests, culture and religion and rush into the arms of neoliberalism, things usually go badly. They become puppets controlled by the Western machine... The Republika Srpska is not and will not be anyone’s colony, but it wants and is building partnerships with those who respect it. The policy of maintaining good relations with Russia is the choice of the Republika Srpska and the Serbian people, and not the influence or pressure of Russia,” the RS Cabinet of Ministers said.
