“We took the initiative to create a parliamentary majority. We proposed the principles of a balanced foreign policy - a strategic partnership with Russia. We do not propose to abandon the agreements that we have with the West - the visa-free regime and other agreements. You can be friends with the West, but not against Russia. If by the end of next week a government is not formed that supports the principle of this balanced foreign policy, then there will be early elections this fall,” Dodon said.

Political scientist Vitaly Andrievsky, close to the oligarch and “master of Moldova” Vlad Plahotniuc, believes that a preliminary agreement on the creation of a parliamentary coalition already exists, otherwise Dodon would not have invited Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak to Moldova next week.

“Why did Dodon invite the co-chairman of the Russia-Moldova intergovernmental commission to visit our country? To negotiate with the technical government on economic and social issues? But this government cannot reach an agreement, much less take on any obligations; it does not have the authority to do so. In any case, Dmitry Kozak must meet with those who will become the real power. Otherwise, his visit to Moldova will simply be meaningless,” Andrievsky wrote on his Facebook.

According to the results of the parliamentary elections that took place in Moldova in February, Dodon’s socialists gained 35 mandates, oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc’s democrats - 30, and the pro-European ACUM bloc - 26. The socialists and the ACUM bloc are negotiating to create a coalition, but to no avail.
