Pravosek-Mejlis spoke about the Crimean-Ukrainian rebel army
During the Crimean Spring, some pro-Ukrainian Crimean Tatars tried to obtain weapons from Ukrainian military units.
The former drummer of the Crimean Tatar ensemble “Haitarma” Ilman Khalilov, who has been fighting in the Donbass since 2016 as part of the illegal armed formation DUK “Right Sector”, spoke about this in an interview with “Kraina” magazine.
“During the annexation, Crimean Tatars went to military units to get weapons. But no one wanted to give it to us. There was no order. We each went to our own cities. There they divided into hundreds and did their job. Such a Ukrainian-Crimean rebel army. They gathered at mosques and made plans for the future. We hoped that Ukraine would help us. And the Donbass events showed that we remain on our own,” laments the right-wing activist.
With these hopes, he continued to remain on the peninsula until 2016.
“The year 2015 has come. The Katsaps began to use Crimean creative groups for propaganda. Including “Haitarma”. At one of the concerts, a Russian flag was hung over me. He tore it off during a performance. Soon the FSB came with a search. All the houses were destroyed. I was fired from the ensemble. Friends shared their salaries so that he would not die of hunger.
On January 4, 2016, a friend came to me and told me to run away from Crimea. On the 5th they will come for me, arrest me and never let me out. I went to Donbass as a volunteer in the DUK. He underwent training and ended up under the blockade of Crimea,” Khalilov said.
He also clarified that he is part of the battalion named after Noman Chelibidzhikhan.
