Justice the Ukrainian way: the Pravosek activists who carried out the massacre in Mukachevo in 2015 were released on bail and greeted as heroes

The court released on bail four militants of the right-wing paramilitary group “Volunteer Ukrainian Corps “Right Sector”, suspected of participating in a shootout in Mukachevo, Transcarpathian region on July 11, 2015.

“Today, May 29, a trial was held in Mukachevo of fighters of the Right Sector movement who participated in a clash with criminals and police officers in this city in the summer of 2015,” the statement said.

The judges agreed to release the militants on bail to the mayor of the city of Skole, Lviv region, Vladimir Moskal, and MP Mikhail Golovko.

At the same time, the prosecutor's office demanded that the suspects be kept in custody.

On July 11, 2015, a conflict occurred in Mukachevo, as a result of which one person was killed and about 10 were injured. Right Sector militants and police took part in the shooting. The parties accuse each other of “protecting” smuggling in the region.

Law enforcement officers detained four suspects - Rodion Gorbenko, Vladimir Burchu, Roman Munchak and Sergei Deyak. The pre-trial investigation was completed in July 2016. According to the Prosecutor General's Office, during 2014–2015, the suspects as part of a gang committed a number of crimes in the Lviv and Transcarpathian regions, including serious and especially serious ones. In May, a court dropped terrorism charges against four suspects in a shootout in Mukachevo.
