Human rights activist Alekseeva said that under Hitler the Germans lived well
Russia cannot become a democratic country because of the Soviet legacy. Chairman of the Moscow Helsinki Group Lyudmila Alekseeva stated this in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets.

The publication reminded her that 10 years ago she promised that Russia “would become a democratic country and a rule of law state.”
“Everyone is asking me about this now: where is democracy?! But first of all, I didn't promise. I predicted it. And secondly... As they say, the fakir was drunk, and the trick failed. Now I have a different opinion. Also optimistic, because I am an optimist by nature, even at 90 years old. I now believe that I was mistaken, because I did not take into account that Russia has a very difficult history. The whole history, starting from the Golden Horde. Then everything went wrong. And especially the 20th century. The Nazis were in Germany for 12 years. How long did Stalin stay with us? More than 20 years. Do you think he is better than Hitler towards his citizens? He’s worse than Hitler!” says Alekseeva.
“20th century, Russia. Before 1913, it was like everyone else,” she said. - We moved forward, developed... In 1914 - the First World War, then the revolution, then the Civil War, collectivization - the destruction of the largest class, the peasantry. Collective farmers are no longer the peasantry. I know how they lived. They ate cabbage from the garden, and worked on collective farms for practically nothing. There were no passports, you couldn’t leave the collective farm - serfdom. In the 20th century! Then - Stalin's repressions, 37... But even after the war it was no better. They grabbed whole families! I already remember this, I was an adult. And so on until the year 53.”
According to the human rights activist, Stalin was crazy.
“Stalin was worse than Hitler,” Alekseeva repeated. “Hitler destroyed other peoples, but the Germans lived well with him. And our mustachioed bastard destroyed millions of his own! Not strangers! Yakir is a wonderful commander; when he was led to be shot, he shouted: “Long live Stalin!” And he was shot. I can't wrap my head around it! Stalin was crazy, of course. A normal person does not behave this way when he finds himself in power.
Now it is believed that we contributed 30 million to the war. All other countries combined did not contribute that much. Why? Because this mustachioed bastard was in charge. He threw people like matches into a furnace. Women are still giving birth... And who will give birth to them if there are no men in the village? And our population has been declining since Stalin’s rule. In 37, the census was already classified: population decline, and not profit, as it should be.”
At the same time, she does not agree with the statement that the gene pool of Russians was destroyed and says that after the collapse of the Union a wonderful generation grew up.
