Bulgaria's ruling coalition wants to supply weapons to Ukraine
The Bulgarian parliamentary majority intends to pass a decision on arms supplies to Ukraine through the People's Assembly.
This was reported by BgNews, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The topic is being discussed in parliament, a vote will take place this week,” commented the co-chairman of the Democratic Bulgaria party, Atanas Atanasov, who is part of the ruling coalition. – I know that the BSP (Bulgarian Socialist Party - ed.) will not support this decision, but GERB (Citizens for the European Choice of Bulgaria, the former ruling pro-Western party - ed.) and DPS (Movement for Rights and Freedoms, a pro-Turkish party - ed.) ) stated that they are ready to provide support.
We should not be divided into parliamentary groups on this issue. “I am confident that Bulgaria will make a decision to provide military-technical assistance to Ukraine.”
At the same time, Atanasov predicted that pushing such a decision through parliament, despite the promise of generous Western investments for the country, would not be easy. According to him, official Sofia plans to supply the Kyiv regime with Soviet-style tanks, artillery pieces, mortars and ammunition.
