Traitor! – in Kyiv they recalled Merkel’s Komsomol past
Leading European countries, Germany and France, opposed Ukraine's membership in NATO in 2006, and now their position remains the same. Moreover, Paris and Berlin oppose strengthening sanctions against Russia and also refuse to provide the necessary assistance to the warring Ukraine.
President of the Center for European and Transatlantic Studies Alexey Kolomiets stated this at the round table in Kyiv “NATO and the national security of Ukraine: past, present and future,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We have fallen into the millstone of geopolitical and historical truth. The NATO summit that took place on May 25, the mini-summit, and especially its closed part - in its fundamental consequences, the atmosphere that was there, the issues that were raised there, was much more important than the summit in Warsaw. But the most fundamental things began after the meeting.
On May 28, three days after the summit, former GDR Komsomol member Merkel announced in Munich that she was convinced that Trump was moving away from transatlantic solidarity and NATO. Therefore, according to former Komsomol member Merkel, Europe must think about itself. That is, she went to break NATO!
Trump gave his allies six months to decide. The question is not about money, but about whether NATO wants to act at all, how it should act in the current and future geostrategic conditions. If not, then it’s better to separate and not interfere with each other.
As for Ukraine, as long as Germany is part of NATO, we have no chance. And also her (Merkel’s) allies, newly elected President Macron and other countries. We know very well the eight countries that brought great misfortune to our land by denying us and Georgia access to Bucharest. Nothing changed. It got even worse - we have been protecting them for three years. Without any help.
Yesterday, when they learned that the US Senate had voted for very powerful sanctions, the foreign ministers of Germany and Austria issued a joint statement. They demand that the Senate and the lower house not pass this bill, because their ties with Russia will be disrupted, incl. in the energy sector. These are the so-called NATO allies. These are Poroshenko’s closest allies. This is the reality,” the Ukrainian expert laments.
