Kiev political scientist Kost Bondarenko said this on the YouTube channel “UkrLife”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“Some political forces say that yes, in order to achieve the lifting of sanctions and return Russia to the club of handshake states, we are ready to make some concessions in Donbass. But this is only said by representatives of one group. Everyone wonderfully understands that the main decision will be up to the leader of Russia, but he has not yet said his word.
Moreover, the positions of various groups of “hawks” are quite strong, who naturally believe that if Russia leaves Donbass, if Russia also agrees to implement the Minsk agreements, then this will be regarded almost as a second withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, which will be quite a serious blow to the image and prestige of Russia within Russia, not externally,” Bondarenko said.
However, speaking about the “Russian presence”, the expert did not make any unambiguous statement.
“In Russia they can say that “they are not there,” that they are not present on the territory of Donbass, but everyone understands perfectly well that Donbass is a sphere of interests of the Russian Federation, and Russia will not leave Donbass for now,” the political scientist said.
