“Betrayal or fear?” – In Kyiv they demand to punish those responsible for the loss of Kherson
Ukrainian commanders who were involved in the failure that facilitated the rapid advance of the Russian army from Crimea into Ukraine must be held accountable.
Verkhovna Rada deputy of the Golos faction Sergei Rakhmanin stated this on Radio NV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Crimea is not just a peninsula, it is not just an occupied territory of Ukraine, it is one of the largest military bases in Russia. There is a huge group concentrated there. Moreover, it intensified before the war. Taking into account the perimeter, the terrain, the conditions, the methods of defense, the numbers that we can rely on from open sources, it was impossible to stop the enemy there at all, 100%. It was possible to defend effectively, it was possible to force a battle,” said Rakhmanin.
According to him, the success of the Russians was justified by the fact that proper Ukrainian defense was not organized.
“Objectively, there was no real opportunity to resist. The question is that this resistance did not exist, as far as could be judged from official reports, from the testimony of people who remained alive, from the testimony of local residents. There was no resistance. There was not even the kind of resistance that was in other areas. In general, it is possible that the cause was fear, I do not rule it out. ...
There was no proper defense organized there. And this led to the following consequences - a quick exit to Mariupol, a threat to Nikolaev, and the seizure of ports. The fact that certain persons should be held responsible for this is undeniable. But the circle of all of them should be established by the consequence - this is “a”. The degree of their guilt should be determined by the investigation - this is “b”. And “in” – intent. Was it betrayal or was it fear? Fear is also a crime.
Well, every person can be scared, but they committed a state crime because they did not resist in accordance with the powers that were imposed on them,” the deputy emphasized.
