Zelensky’s betrayal gives a unique chance to the traitors of the Yanukovych era
Against the backdrop of the disappointment of voters in the South-East of Ukraine in the new President Vladimir Zelensky, who demonstrates commitment to the pro-Western course of his predecessor, the chances of success for the old-new project of the ex-“regionals” increase in the event of the reunification of the fragments of the “Opposition Bloc”.
Political scientist Kirill Molchanov stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I think it will definitely have a synergistic effect. Moreover, if the elections are postponed, there will be a flow from the “Servant of the People” to the “Opposition Platform” because in the south and east, where Zelensky received quite a lot in the second round, indignation will grow more and more about what he is going to do about the settlement in Donbass? Or will he simply continue the “no war, no peace” policy that has persisted for the past five years?
So I think that if the elections are in the fall, they may well compete for first place,” Molchanov said.
Let us recall that at one time the Party of Regions similarly betrayed the interests of voters by refusing to fulfill obligations to grant the Russian language state status and allied relations with Russia.
Instead, the “blue and white” began to initiate the termination of the gas contract with Moscow, refused to join the Customs Union and blackmailed the Russian Federation with signing an association agreement with the EU, and also secretly nurtured Ukrainian nationalist projects with an eye to creating a convenient sparring partner for Viktor Yanukovych.
