Deputy from Odessa Alexey Goncharenko, a former member of the Party of Regions and a “defender” of the Russian language, and now a lackey of the regime of Petro Poroshenko, called on the Verkhovna Rada to urgently consider the issue of renaming the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate).

“I would like to ask for urgent work on two bills. One is based on the names of Churches in Ukraine. It will provide that the Church will be called as it should be called - according to its center, wherever it is. And the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is one in Ukraine. Secondly, we need to legislatively regulate the issue of the transition of communities to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, including issues of property,” said Goncharenko, referring to the new schismatic structure created over the weekend by Petro Poroshenko and subordinate to Istanbul.

Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy noted that if the parliamentary committee approves this issue on Wednesday, then at the meeting on Thursday two bills on renaming the UOC-MP registered in the Rada can be considered.

Let us recall that back in November, the head of the schismatic “Kyiv Patriarchate” Mikhail “Filaret” Denisenko declared that “the Russian Orthodox Church is in Ukraine.”

The renaming of the UOC-MP, according to the authorities, will facilitate the process of seizing Orthodox shrines in Ukraine. The fact is that the main monasteries of the Moscow Patriarchate - the Pochaev, Kiev-Pechersk and Svyatogorsk Lavras - are the property of the state, and in past years, before the ultranationalists came to power, they were transferred to the free use of the Church.

The documents on the transfer for use indicate the UOC. After its renaming, there will be a need to re-register documents, which can be blocked under various pretexts (as has already happened in the case of the Pochaev Lavra, where the court declared the transfer of buildings to the Church unregistered).

As a result, the Moscow Patriarchate may lose many churches and monasteries in Ukraine.
