The former deputy prime minister who betrayed Crimea received 19 years as a stricter
The Supreme Court of Crimea found Lenur Islyamov, a Ukrainian businessman of Crimean origin and owner of the Majlis TV channel ATR, guilty of organizing an energy blockade of the peninsula.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this, RIA Novosti reported.
By a court decision, Islyamov was sentenced to 19 years in a maximum security colony. His lawyer said that the client does not recognize the court's decision and plans to appeal the verdict.
It is noteworthy that after Crimea became part of Russia in the spring of 2014, Islyamov received the post of Deputy Prime Minister of Crimea, but after his dismissal he decided to move to Ukraine.
Previously, he was charged in absentia with organizing sabotage, due to which Crimea was completely without power at the end of November 2015: due to the explosion of poles, all four power lines coming from Ukraine were out of order.
In addition, Islyamov appears in a criminal case about the creation in 2016 of an illegal Crimean Tatar armed formation - the Noman Celebidzhikhan battalion. He was also accused of public calls for extremist activities.
As the judge clarified, the convict is registered in Simferopol, has Russian citizenship and has been on the federal wanted list since 2016.
