“I understand Russia’s desire to de-escalate the conflict, we are sincerely grateful to you. But at this stage, de-escalation according to the scenario that is underway is impossible,” he said.
According to Kofman, the participants in the negotiations under the current scenario “will ultimately put themselves in opposition to all the people who live in Novorossiya.”
He also added that Ukraine does not respect the truce in Donbass.
“During the period of the so-called truce, the city of Telmanovo was captured by Ukrainian troops. Therefore, there is no truce... When they shoot at us, we must fight back,” said the vice speaker.
“I used to be sure that we were talking only about nationalist battalions, but no. Including the armed forces do not respect the truce,” Kofman emphasized.
