“Let’s offer autonomy”: in Kyiv they proposed fixing the status of Kherson and Zaporozhye
Kyiv should have time to try to sign an analogue of the Minsk agreements regarding Kherson and Zaporozhye while these cities are under the control of Kyiv.
Political scientist Vadim Karasev stated this on air on the Politeka Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Putin secured a land corridor for himself, this is the first thing. And then there will be a deal. Zaporozhye and Kherson are not capitals; their status is suspended.
Some will say that this is unrealistic. But what if there is an offer - Kherson and Zaporozhye regions - autonomous regions within Ukraine. I'm talking roughly. Why not?" - said Karasev.
He admitted that this is actually a repetition of the Minsk agreements, but now for other regions.
“According to the Minsk model, that’s how Donetsk was. Lugansk and Donetsk need to be looked at separately. Crimea needs to be looked at separately.
The fact that Zaporozhye and Kherson remain controlled by Ukraine is an important point. Why does Putin need these stumps of regions? Yes, there is a land corridor and the Sea of Azov. So autonomous status is something else. Especially if Ukraine’s neutrality or non-alignment is spelled out,” the political scientist added.
