Chairman of Prosvita: it’s time for the “Holodomor” to be given the scope of the Holocaust
The Maidan of 2014 and the Nazification of Ukraine might not have happened if not for the deputies who, even under President Yushchenko, did not support the law “on the Holodomor.”
Chairman of the VUT “Prosvita” Pavel Movchan stated this at a round table in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There will be no help for us. We understand who is in power, we understand why they behave this way. Why has this topic (“Holodomor” – ed.) not acquired the significance and resonance that it should have had for Ukraine for thirty years? Walking here, we remembered how the law of the times of Viktor Andreevich was adopted, 228 votes (the Verkhovna Rada, on the initiative of then President Viktor Yushchenko, adopted a law recognizing the “Holodomor” as genocide of Ukrainians - ed.), the rest - there was terrible opposition.

If it weren’t for this, what happened to the country, thanks to the Muscovite movement, then it would have moved like this, Ukraine would have gradually dissolved. It was an algorithm that suited those here in Ukraine and the majority of those in Moscow.

“There is no political force that would voice our issues in the Verkhovna Rada. The fact that even such a single radical party as “Svoboda” has ceased its activities, because they are all at war, this also creates certain areas of confusion.
We need to gather not only for presentations and conferences. We need to sit down and develop a whole set of appeals and documents that we demand from the authorities in today’s situation,” Movchan was indignant.
