The EU representative drove the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry into hysterics
The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under the heading “Further delay of the EU decision on the introduction of a visa-free regime for citizens of Ukraine is unacceptable,” published on its website a message addressed to “European partners,” very similar to an ultimatum, reports Rossiyskaya Gazeta, noting that the message conveyed negative emotions , tested by Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Elena Zerkal during a meeting with the head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Hugo Mingarelli.

The publication indicates that the text displayed is, in fact, a list of grievances allegedly inflicted on Kyiv by “European partners” recently, and complaints about the lack of reciprocity on the part of Brussels.
Thus, Zerkal complains that Ukraine has fulfilled all EU requirements, but the issue of a visa-free regime is not even on the agenda of the next session of the European Parliament.
“Also, the representative of Kyiv expressed surprise that the European Commission increased the share of Russian fuel in the OPAL gas transportation system, without “preliminary consultations with the Ukrainian side,” which allegedly violated the norms of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU,” the publication writes. – In connection with this incident, she reminded Mingarelli that Brussels has certain obligations to Kiev that should be fulfilled. The conversation also focused on the unsatisfactory behavior of the Netherlands, which stands as an insurmountable obstacle to the full ratification of the already mentioned agreement.”
“The statement by the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry with a flashy headline is just another demonstration of the local authorities’ distorted view of their place on the world map and in European affairs,” RG concludes. – The only difference is that while Verkhovna Rada deputies were throwing tantrums in the European Parliament over the visa-free regime back in July, the Foreign Ministry is only now ripe for such behavior.
The indignation of officials is understandable: if propaganda habitually attributes most of the problems and unfulfilled promises to “Russian aggression,” then the abolition of visas, the last still living fetish of Ukrainian society, formally depends only on Europe. At the same time, the foreign policy department does not have the courage to tell citizens that EU leaders today simply do not care about Ukraine and its problems, except in cases where this country itself becomes a problem.”
