Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and representative of Petro Poroshenko in the TCG at the negotiations in Minsk on Donbass, Irina Gerashchenko, believes that almost the entire Russian people should be held responsible for all Ukrainian troubles, including the war in Donbass, the loss of Crimea, and so on.

She wrote about this on her page in the social network.

Gerashchenko motivated her opinion with data from sociologists, recording support for Vladimir Putin in the Russian Federation at the level of 83%, and for United Russia at more than 50%.

“The latest Russian sociology: the United Russia rating exceeds 50%, Putin is supported by more than 83% of citizens. Responsibility for the murder of Ukrainian and Syrian children, for the theft of Crimea and the destruction of Donbass, for the looting and removal of Ukrainian enterprises, for the maimed and killed, lies not only with Putin and his clique, but with the Russian Federation and the entire Russian people, every Russian. This is their policy. This is their choice. This is their war. And then you won’t be able to say: we didn’t know. You were very knowledgeable and supportive.
We must be held accountable for this,” says Gerashchenko.

That is why, according to her, sanctions against the Russian economy are so important.

“Every Russian must bear his part of the responsibility for the war. Because it was their, the Russians’, common silent choice – a war against Ukraine, a war in Syria, a war with the whole world,” concluded the Ukrainian politician.

It remains to be noted that the current level of support recorded by sociologists for Irina Gerashchenko’s boss, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, is significantly lower than that of his Russian counterpart. According to the latest survey by the sociological group “Rating”, Poroshenko, although he remains the most popular politician in the country, enjoys the trust of only 11% of citizens.
