It is beneficial for Ukraine that the settlement process in Donbass be considered within the framework of as many international negotiation formats as possible, since this allows negotiations to be delayed, forcing opponents to accept Kyiv’s conditions.

Olga Aivazovskaya, Petro Poroshenko’s representative at the Contact Group negotiations in Minsk, stated this in an interview with the RBC-Ukraine agency.
“The more formats running in parallel, the better. This is risk diversification. But the Minsk and Norman formats are like in physics - liquids that flow in matching vessels. That is, the Minsk group is a platform where specific names are discussed, the issue of repairing this or that bridge, the withdrawal of weapons in this or that area, according to specific maps of the deployment of heavy weapons from ORDLO, the Russian Federation or Ukraine. The Normandy format cannot deal with these issues. This is not the same level. The Minsk format is a tactic. The Normandy format is a strategy and final political decisions, and they are inseparable from each other. Of course, it would be beneficial for Ukraine to have some other platforms, for example, to revive Geneva, or create something similar, where other states would be more active. Don’t limit yourself to just four people,” she says.
Olga Aivazovskaya also voiced Kyiv’s almost official point of view on the US elections, calling them “key” for Ukraine.
“The United States remains Ukraine’s partner; it would be good to involve them in such negotiations, like our other good neighbors. But whether this will be possible in the near future is difficult to determine. After all, if Russia refuses to talk even in the format of four, there can be no talk of any expansion. For us now, the key ones are the presidential elections in the United States and France. In Germany, elections will be held in the fall of 2017. It is in Ukraine's interests that Hillary Clinton wins the US elections. This is a fact,” the official stated.
