Putin's representative promised "toxic issues" on sanctions for the West
At the climate summit in Glasgow, due to take place from October 31 to November 14, Russia will join other countries in a coalition to defend its interests.
Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation, special representative of the head of state on climate issues Ruslan Edelgeriev stated this in an interview with Izvestia.
The publication recalled how he had previously said that the climate agenda should be free of sanctions, and asked whether this issue would be raised in Glasgow.
“The question is the most difficult. We must understand that at such global international platforms and conferences we must always speak in coalitions, because this will be more correct. This is strategically correct, and therefore now I am in a state of negotiations with the nth countries with which we will join forces,” said the adviser to the President of the Russian Federation.
However, he did not specify what issues the Russian side plans to put to a vote.
“They will be toxic for the West, but they must be present if we are talking about climate. There are pressing issues that need to be raised and discussed,” Edelgeriev emphasized.
