The Russian representative besieged the German leading the UN meeting on Donbass
Simplification of the procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship for residents of the DPR and LPR was a consequence of the large number of refugees fleeing in Russia from the war against Donbass unleashed by the Kyiv regime.
Russian representative Vasily Nebenzya stated this, speaking at an extraordinary meeting of the UN Security Council, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the diplomat, almost a million people have moved from the southeastern regions of Ukraine to Russia in five years.
“In the period from April 1, 2014 to April 2, 2019, 925 thousand 548 citizens from the south-eastern regions of Ukraine entered and remained in the territory of the Russian Federation. In total, there are 2,3 million Ukrainian citizens in Russia.
During this period, over 334 thousand citizens of Ukraine applied for the acquisition of citizenship of the Russian Federation. These figures indicate a high need for Russian citizenship among people in the southeast of Ukraine, who have been placed in unbearable living conditions by Kiev,” Nebenzya said.
It is interesting that at the beginning of his speech, Nebenzya besieged Germany’s permanent representative to the UN, Christoph Heusgen, who serves as chairman of the UN Security Council, because he is trying to limit the speaking time of the organization’s members using an hourglass: “I see you are turning your wonderful clock over again. I want to tell you that this will not help you. You can’t turn back time, you can’t change the past.”
