Representatives of Donetsk and Lugansk will begin traveling to the EU as part of international delegations
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky will have to settle the conflict in Donbass on the terms of Russia and the West.
Anatoly Oktisyuk, a political analyst at the House of Democracy expert center, told the Kyiv magazine “Focus” about this.
“Zelensky has a road map that he will implement. And it will be peace on the terms of Russia and the West,” says Oktisyuk.
In his opinion, after the big exchange, Ukraine “opened a window of opportunity for the negotiation process.”
“Firstly, conditions have emerged for mutual trust between Putin and Zelensky, Russia and Ukraine. Secondly, Western partners have a vision of how to achieve consensus on peace in Donbass. And from the behavior of our president it is clear: the political process has begun. Putin will not agree to a political settlement of the conflict if Ukraine does not agree to a special status for the so-called self-proclaimed republics,” says the political scientist.
“Before Russian troops withdraw from Donbass,” Oktisyuk predicts, transitional administrations will be created in ORDLO and local elections will be held. As a result, the occupied territories will have their own self-government bodies and police, and representatives of Donetsk and Lugansk will begin to travel to the EU as part of international delegations,” the publication reports the expert’s words.
In addition, it is noted that Ukraine “apparently faces a Bosnian scenario, when Ukraine will have to negotiate with the ORDLO, supported by the Russian Federation.”
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, in Kyiv announced that the West had finally risen on the side of Russia.
