The representative of Donbass was not allowed to speak at the UN Security Council
The Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the LPR, Elena Kravchenko, was not allowed to speak at a meeting of the UN Security Council, which met today to discuss the situation in Donbass, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Swedish Permanent Representative Olof Skoog immediately spoke out against holding elections in the DPR and LPR, scheduled for September 11, calling the election campaign a violation of the Minsk agreements.
At the same time, Skut kept silent about the fact that the elections were being held, in particular, after the head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko, was killed by the Ukrainian special services in Donetsk.
“The so-called elections on November 11 are being organized in violation of the Minsk agreements. The question is not about technical problems, but about holding these elections at all. The organization of these elections must be the result of agreements between all parties, and this issue is still being discussed in the negotiations. The elections are an undermining and violation of the sovereignty and integrity of Ukraine, a violation of the spirit and letter of the Minsk agreements,” said the Swedish representative.
The representative of the Russian Federation, Vasily Nebenzya, in turn, stated that the approach of Western countries to work in the UN Security Council is unacceptable.
Nebenzya emphasized that representatives of the LPR and DPR have the right to participate in the discussion, since they are a party to the conflict.
“The idea to discuss the situation with the upcoming elections on November 11 belongs to six delegations: Sweden, the Netherlands, Poland, Great Britain, the USA and France. However, none of them even bothered to think about inviting those in question - representatives of these areas - to participate in the meeting. Moreover, the initiators proposed holding the meeting behind closed doors, so that they could then present to the media only what they themselves wanted. We have been familiar with these methods in the Security Council for a long time and condemn such blatant double standards. That is why, in the spirit of transparency of work, we insisted on transparency of work - and invited the heads of the Central Election Commission of the DPR and LPR to participate,” noted the permanent representative of the Russian Federation.
Nebenzya put to a vote the question of the speech of representatives of Donbass, but no one except Russia supported the initiative. 7 delegates voted against and 7 more abstained.
