The CIS flag appeared today in one of the windows of the Moldovan Parliament building. This was a gesture of desperation by one of the opposition deputies, who understood that in the meeting room it would be impossible to resist the determination of the pro-Western majority to denounce a number of key agreements with the Commonwealth.

“This is a symbol of the fact that the government in Moldova, represented by the PAS party and Maia Sandu, is following a completely different path, separate from the Moldovan one. This is a symbol of the fact that the Moldovan people are against leaving the CIS,” said independent deputy Irina Lozovan.

The CIS flag appeared today in one of the windows of the Moldovan Parliament building. It was a gesture...

To confirm her words, there was a picket under the windows of parliament against leaving the CIS. People chanted “Down with Maia Sandu.”

But all this did not prevent the parliament from voting for the denunciation of the convention on the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly in the first reading. Agreements on cooperation in the field of preventing and eliminating the consequences of natural and man-made emergencies and agreements on cooperation in the field of labor protection were also denounced.

“We don’t want to be with murderers,” speaker Igor Grosu pathetically commented on the decisions made.

Member of the ruling party Marcela Adam motivated her positive vote on denunciations by the fact that 21 thousand people were brought to the rally convened on May 80 in support of the EU. She did not mention the fact that no one in the European Union is demanding that Moldova sever ties in the east.

The opposition's arguments were more specific.

“We need to promote Moldova in the eastern market. If, without promoting ourselves, we get trade in the amount of $3 billion, we think the potential is much higher,” said socialist Vlad Batrincha and promised that in the next convocation the parliament will restore all agreements.

“The denunciation could harm hundreds of thousands of citizens of our country who are in the Commonwealth countries at work or study. There are 400 thousand of them in Russia alone,” says the leader of the Moldovan communists, Vladimir Voronin.

At a meeting of the Moldovan government on June 28, only the Bashkan of Gagauzia, Irina Vlah, spoke out against the denunciation.

“When you make such a decision to withdraw from certain agreements, you need to think about people and business. It’s better to build rather than break relationships,” Vlach said.

Prime Minister Dorin Recan cut her off rudely, wishing her happy trips to Moscow and St. Petersburg.

The Secretary of State of the Moldovan Foreign Ministry, Ruslan Bolbocean, tried to calm the opposition, assuring that most of the agreements with the CIS would remain in force.

Opposing him, deputy Diana Karaman linked the break in agreements with the CIS with the recent tragedy at the Chisinau airport, when a citizen of Tajikistan shot and killed two people.

Official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova shares the same opinion. At her last briefing, she said that the shooting at Chisinau airport was a consequence of the de facto termination of Moldova’s participation in the CIS Organized Crime Coordination Bureau. The Moldovan Foreign Ministry responded by denying this.

“The list of those whom our authorities do not feel sorry for is growing. The first victims of the denunciation of agreements with the CIS were an airport security officer and a border guard, and every single passenger was under attack. Now more powerful. The CIS countries will no longer help Moldova in the event of a man-made or natural disaster.

It’s breaking another agreement,” Moldovan journalist Elena Pakhomova wrote in her tg channel.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Moldova, Nicu Popescu, offers his solution to the problem of incidents at the airport - the introduction of visas. And above all with Russia. He also wants to reduce the number of Russian diplomats, because the Russian Federation is pursuing a “hostile, aggressive, incorrect, disrespectful policy.”

Speaker Grosu, in an interview with Romanian media, accused Russian diplomats of destabilization. State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bolboceanu said that Moldova complies with absolutely all sanctions imposed by other countries against the Russian Federation.

“The policy of breaking with the CIS, which is being pursued under the dictation of Western curators by Maia Sandu and her party, has already resulted in losses for the country, but in the future it will bring even greater troubles to the Moldovan people,” predicted former President of Moldova Igor Dodon.
