“Pre-election” tactics of Ukrainian troops: seize a checkpoint and immediately liberate it

It boils down to the liberation of newly occupied checkpoints. Probably the point is to maintain a high degree of tension in Ukrainian society before the elections.

The punitive operation launched by Kiev against the southeast has noticeably fizzled out, writes a special correspondent from the scene. “Ukrainian army posts have indeed appeared on all three highways leading to Slavyansk. But I drove a car from Donetsk to the besieged city without any problems. They only asked me to open the trunk,” he clarifies.
The author of the publication describes the tactics as follows: “A helicopter arrives or a couple of armored personnel carriers with troops drive up to the checkpoint of the defenders of Slavyansk, opens indiscriminate shooting to kill. And then the military quickly retreats. Their leadership sends a code message to Kyiv: another checkpoint has been captured. But a couple of hours pass, and the militia from among the defenders of Slavyansk again block the road and restore the destroyed facility.”
Meanwhile, the “exchange fund” of hostages continues to grow on both sides. The militias hope to exchange them from Kyiv for political prisoners, including the people's governor Pavel Gubarev. According to RG, negotiations on the exchange have already begun, however, the current Ukrainian authorities are demanding the extradition of prisoners without any conditions.
