Tymoshenko's election promises are unfavorable for the EU
Yulia Tymoshenko, having come to power, can really use tough administrative measures to lower gas prices, says Ukrainian political strategist Dmitry Dzhangirov.
“Knowing Yulia, she can do this. The fact that she will unscrew something for someone is another matter. She does not promise, but guarantees that it will be done. Everyone understands that, if not Yulia, then there will be another price increase in May, and another in September. A total of another 25%. Having believed in this, people begin to believe in her other promises,” Dzhangirov said on the PolitWera YouTube channel.
Political scientist Vadim Karasev also believes that the price reduction is real, but warns of possible contradictions with the European Union.
“The gas issue can be resolved, this is not populism. Another point is that this will be difficult to do, because the European gas price is included in the association agreement with the EU. Because if the price is low, it will be unprofitable for European companies to invest in the exploration and production of Ukrainian gas. They will come here and pump our gas,” Karasev said on TV channel 112.
