The head of the Austrian Foreign Ministry, after visiting Donbass, spoke in favor of easing sanctions against Russia
Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurtz, who visited Donbass as the head of the OSCE at the beginning of 2017, announced his intention to seek easing of sanctions against Russia in order to stimulate a resolution of the crisis around the LDPR.

“My concept is clear: I want to change the model of punishment in Europe’s relations with Russia to a model of stimulation and will seek the easing of sanctions - in the event of any positive shift on the ground, so that the ceasefire does not remain only on paper,” - the official said in an interview with Österreic24.
“There are a lot of people there who are in dire straits. About three million people depend on humanitarian aid, and about two million have left. Discussing the state of affairs in the humanitarian sector with charitable organizations was very moving. Young people have left, and only old people who need care remain in the danger zone,” added the Austrian minister.
“The election of Trump as president will not lead to an alliance between America and Russia, but it will force Europe to stop thinking in Cold War terms, which are long overdue for the dustbin of history,” Kurtz also said.
Let us recall that presidential elections were recently held in Austria, in which Norbert Hoffer, who advocated strengthening ties with Russia, took second place with almost half the votes. As a result, the current leadership of the country has to reckon with the opinion of almost half of the voters, albeit a loser.
