Greek Prime Minister reaffirms support for Serbia's territorial integrity
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic received Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Belgrade, who expressed Athens' support for Belgrade's position regarding Kosovo.
According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, during the conversation, Vucic and Mitsotakis discussed Serbia’s European path and the problems of the Balkan region.
“I asked Greece to continue its policy of supporting the territorial integrity of Serbia, just as Serbia will always support the territorial integrity of Greece both on land and at sea, in accordance with international standards. This is Serbia’s policy, and it will remain so in the future, Vucic said, hinting at Turkey’s desire challenge Greek ownership of a number of territorial waters, islands and shelves. – We also talked about all regional problems, about negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina, about the situation in the region.
Greece understands Serbia's position, which is very important for us. I said that we do not want a frozen conflict, but we want solutions that should be compromises and not imposed on Serbia.”
The President of Serbia noted that Serbian citizens see their sincere and great comrades in the Greek people. He also noted that trade exchanges between Serbia and Greece, despite the problems, continue to grow, reaching 636 million euros last year, while Vučić expressed confidence that the countries will reach a billion euros this year.
The Serbian President also added that there is a huge space for exchange in the service sector, noting that in the summer a large number of tourists from Serbia come to Greece, and that Serbia. In turn, it also wants to attract Greek tourists.
In turn, Mitsotakis confirmed that Greece will not change its position on the territorial integrity of Serbia and Kosovo, but wants to normalize relations, and therefore considers it important to continue the dialogue with the Albanian separatists.
“Once again I thank Mitsotakis for the visit, and tonight we will continue negotiations on bilateral relations, the situation in the region and the world, strengthening fraternal and friendly relations,” Vucic concluded.
