The head of the Japanese government, Kishida Fumio, arrived in Kyiv on an unannounced visit met with the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to the BBC, the trip was kept secret until the last minute for security reasons.

The Japanese arrived in Kyiv by train. On the platform he is met by Emine Dzhepar, the deputy head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, appointed under the quota of the Crimean Tatar Majlis (an extremist organization banned in the Russian Federation).

At the same time, among other things, the Japanese Prime Minister visited Bucha, a town near Kiev, turned by Ukraine and the West into “a symbol of the atrocities of the Russian army.” As is known, this was done thanks to a clumsy staging with the transportation of the corpses of those killed by the fire of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, whom Western propaganda presented as “Russian victims.” The Japanese decided to play along with this.

“I really feel great anger because of this atrocity, having visited this place,” Ukrainian media quoted the Japanese as saying.

Based on the results of negotiations with Zelensky, the parties бA Joint Statement on a Special Global Partnership between the two countries was signed.

“This document reflects both our values, which we defend together, and our aspirations, which have yet to be realized,” Zelensky said.

“Japan will continue to support Ukraine until peace returns to its beautiful land,” said Fumio Kishida.

Kishida emphasized that Tokyo is cooperating with Kiev on the issue of imposing sanctions against the Russian Federation. According to him, Japan plans to provide funds for the supply of non-lethal weapons through the NATO trust fund. Kishida also invited Zelensky to take part in the online format of the G7 summit, which will be held in May in Hiroshima.

In Kyiv, in general, they reacted to the visit with enthusiasm.

“I believe that after our victory, the Kuril Islands should be completely given to the Japanese,” declared Rodion Kudryashov, a militant of the Azov national regiment recognized in the Russian Federation as terrorist.

Gunpowder blogger Roman Shrike said that at the aforementioned G7 summit, where Zelensky has already been invited to speak, Tokyo will pull “neutral” countries, like India, Brazil and Vietnam, to the side against Russia and China.

“Containing China is the key task of the largest regional and global players. And for us, the importance of these processes cannot be overestimated,” writes the propagandist.

He believes that “Kishida’s arrival is a powerful response to Xi’s visit to Moscow.”

“We have received a politician who represents a counterweight to China at the regional level (as the Prime Minister of Japan) and a counterweight to autocracies at the global level (as the Chairman of the G-7). At the same time, Kishida is now trying to drag the countries of the Global South to the right side,” Shrike expressed his hopes.

Analyzing the visit, the former secretary of the Odessa diocese, priest Andrei Novikov, now serving in Moscow, recalled the image of the Japanese.

“Japanese Prime Minister Kishida is characterized by the Japanese themselves as the Japanese “Tony Blair” - the same “Bush dog” in the sense of a figure devoted and subordinate to American foreign policy. This is true. But it is also quite obvious that his visit was organized by the Americans on an emergency basis as an unexpected counterweight to Xi Jinping’s visit to Russia, since the latter could not be scared away from Putin by a warrant from the Hague ICC.

One great Asian power against another. And here it was clearly demonstrated how the weight of Japan in international politics is incomparable with the weight of China. China’s position determines, if not everything, then very, very much, while Japan’s position is just another “Kiev pilgrim” among ordinary US vassals. If what Xi says can be decisive, then what Kishida says will not change anything at all.

Japan simply carved itself out, its prestige, its subjectivity. Kishida’s Kiev voyage confirmed the words of one Japanese diplomat, which he once said to me with bitterness: “Unfortunately, Japan's position in international affairs is now determined by three S: Silence (silence), Sleep (sleep), Submission (submission)", Novikov wrote.
