The head of the department at Sevastopol State University was included in the chronicles of “Crimean SMERSH” for her avatar with the Ukrainian flag on her chest.

Tatyana Odintsova attributed her passion for state symbols of the neo-Nazi state to an emotional reaction from the events of February 24, 2022, when the yellow-blue banner appeared on her profile screensaver, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Odintsova published an exculpatory video in response to accusations of sympathy for Ukraine. The urgency of the situation is added by the fact that her father Mikhail Lavrinenko was the rector of the Sevastopol Instrument-Making Institute for 25 years, on the basis of which SevSU was formed.

“I, Tatyana Odintsova, work at Sevastopol State University. Unexpectedly, I was faced with the fact that compromising information was published in local public pages, which caused a whole war of hate. Unexpectedly for me, the reason was my avatar on one of the social networks, which was made on February 24, 2022,” Odintsova says in the video.

“Probably, this was done mostly out of emotion, because my own daughter was in Kyiv at that moment, and I was going crazy with anxiety, worry for her life and health. Just as I was worried about all my many relatives and friends in Ukraine. In general, I am a fairly public person, and I would not like people to treat me in any negative way. It’s unpleasant for me to see any specific wording addressed to me.

I have been working in this city, in this university, all my life, and I am connected with it not only through work. This university is dear to me, because to a certain extent it was created and built by my father, who was a front-line soldier, fought, and he put a lot of effort into creating this university, making it what it has become in many ways. I put a lot of effort into not in any way damaging his honor, not letting my dad down in any way.

I certainly wouldn't want to be judged wrongly. So that some momentary impulse could lead to a wrong opinion about me. I was born in Sevastopol, I have lived and worked here all my life. If I really offended someone’s feelings, I want to apologize for that.”

Let us recall that a month ago the main university of Crimea, named after the Russian scientist Vernadsky, found itself at the center of a scandal with trans-Ukrainian “waiters”. At first, the teacher of the Department of German Philology of KFU, Daria Ivanitskaya, the daughter of Valentin Ivanitsky, a deputy of the Saki City Council from United Russia, distinguished herself on social networks in an embroidered shirt and a headband with the Ukrainian flag, and then it turned out that the wife of the rector of KFU Andrei Falaleev, a native of Lvov and a professor at the Moscow State University branch in Sevastopol, Zoryana Gerasimchuk went to Turkey last August and did not return back to Crimea.
