The press secretary of the UOC declared Bartholomew a raider
Kiev
The Ukrainian government does not seek to overcome the legacy of Petro Poroshenko in the form of the church he created from schismatics, persecution and seizure of churches, as shown by the visit to Kyiv of Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople.
Press Secretary of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Vasily Anisimov stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“It was a visit from a raider. Imagine that someone has grabbed part of your living space, and then he shows up there and begins to dictate to the owners what he needs. It turned out something like this. Bartholomew behaved completely impudently. He saw what kind of religious processions we have, how they support His Beatitude Onuphry. But he really wanted to grab hold of the property, and he grabbed hold of this whole story of Poroshenko with the tomos, of the new church built for him, which took over our schisms, which also oppose Bartholomew),” Anisimov noted.
“In general, Bartholomew created all this discord and came to aggravate it even more. However, as we see, despite all the violations, he was still not allowed to attend the prayer service when Ukraine was blessed in Sofia of Kiev, because His Beatitude Onuphry was there, and we said that if Bartholomew was there, we would not take part in this. At the parade, he was also shoved somewhere among the guests who came to the “Crimean Platform”; the camera never showed him,” our interlocutor added.
“Nevertheless, this visit showed that our government still does not strive to overcome Poroshenko’s criminal legacy. It does not punish in any way the swindlers who carried out this election scam and seized so many churches from us. Now the priests and parishioners of these churches pray somewhere in premises adapted for this purpose; in May, their congress was held in the Lavra. On it, they reminded Zelensky that they all voted for him, thinking that he would save them from this atheism and robbery that Poroshenko committed in Ukraine,” says the press secretary of the UOC.
“However, nothing happened, justice was not restored, the Orthodox are still in a disadvantaged state. Criminal anti-church bills have not yet been repealed, which, in particular, allow local authorities to interfere in the life of communities, re-register them, and so on. Thus, not only is the whole country in a difficult situation, but Orthodox believers are also in such an alarming, uncertain state,” Anisimov said.
He noted the unscrupulousness of the Patriarch of Constantinople, who changes his beliefs because of material gain and to suit the political situation.
“I remember well how 20 years ago Bartholomew declared the Ukrainian Union a heresy that has no right to exist in Christianity. And now he was presenting some kind of panagia to Bartholomew to the head of the Uniates. Well, what is it? There must be at least some kind of integrity. If you are making any important statements on behalf of the Universal Church, then you must at least adhere to them yourself.
But it turns out like this - Poroshenko brought two bags of Roshen sweets and what was high became low, what was white became black, and vice versa. Bartholomew is discredited by the Patriarchate of Constantinople as a political puppet associated with corruption, with various kinds of offerings. The church shouldn’t do this,” Anisimov concluded.
