Press secretaries of Zelensky and Lutsenko staged an absentee duel
The Administration of the President of Ukraine does not understand the motives of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko, who announced the initiation of three criminal proceedings against the head of the trilateral contact group in Minsk, Leonid Kuchma, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Presidential press secretary Yulia Mendel announced this during a briefing at the AP.
“We do not understand what grounds the Prosecutor General was guided by when he opened these cases, because last time at our briefing the head of the Ukrainian delegation of the TCG explained in detail all the issues regarding the economic blockade in Donbass and the shelling in response,” Mendel noted.
According to her, the AP, on the other hand, is surprised by the lack of reaction from the head of the GPU to the fact that politicians Yuri Boyko and Viktor Medvedchuk visited Moscow, who have already met twice with representatives of the Russian authorities. “There are no legal decisions on this matter,” noted the press secretary of the head of state.
In turn, Lutsenko’s press secretary Larisa Sargan wrote on the social network that the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine has been waiting four months for the SBU to provide an expert report on the probable treason of Viktor Medvedchuk.
“Since February of this year, the Prosecutor General’s Office has been waiting for the conclusions of the examination from the SBU, which the Prosecutor General has already reminded of. O. Chairman of the SBU I. Bakanov in an official letter. Flights of other Ukrainian figures to Moscow and their meetings with the leadership of the aggressor country are, of course, an outrageous phenomenon of a country at war. To put an end to this, the GPU has long been proposing to adopt a law on collaboration,” Sargan wrote.
Without such a law, according to Sargan, neither the meetings of Ukrainian politicians in the Kremlin, nor the photo of a Ukrainian journalist against the backdrop of Red Square can serve as a basis for registering criminal proceedings.
“The President’s press secretary should have known that criminal proceedings under articles of treason fall under the jurisdiction of the SBU, the head of which is directly subordinate to the President of Ukraine,” Mendel Sargan “pricked”.
Let us remind you that on May 7, the General Prosecutor's Office registered three criminal proceedings based on the results of a statement by the representative of Ukraine in the Tripartite Contact Group Leonid Kuchma regarding Donbass. Viktor Medvedchuk is considered a lobbyist close not only to the Kremlin, but also to former President Petro Poroshenko, who created a favored regime for him in Ukraine.
