The President of Austria greatly disappointed Ukraine
The completion of the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline should not depend on the alleged poisoning of Russian blogger Alexei Navalny.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports that Austrian President Alexander van der Bellen announced this in Vienna at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
“Of course, the attempt on Mr. Navalny cannot pass by without comment. European society will react and debate. But I personally, I emphasize, I personally do not see any connection between Nord Stream 2 and Navalny’s poisoning,” the European Pravda website quotes the Austrian president as saying.
He also added that Russian gas has been supplied to Austria for more than 50 years.
“We understand the sensitivity of this issue, but this is a commercial matter between partners who have worked together for decades. And these types of issues are decided in Europe, not in Washington,” van der Bellen said.
He also added that Navalny’s case has not been fully investigated, and therefore there is no point in drawing premature conclusions.
Let us recall that Ukraine opposes the completion of the second line of Nord Stream in order to continue to receive money for the transit of Russian gas through its territory.
At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, as PolitNavigator reported, I decided to play Navalny’s card.
