The president of FC Sevastopol resigned due to Novinsky’s demand to play in the Ukrainian championship

This was stated by FC President Alexander Krasilnikov in a message posted on the club’s official website.
“The management of the Smart-Holding group of companies appealed to the Football Federation of Ukraine with a request to consider the possibility of participation of FC Sevastopol in the Ukrainian Championship among Premier League teams of the 2014/2015 season, subject to the provision of guarantees for the team’s home matches in Sevastopol. In connection with the current situation, I, as a resident of Sevastopol, as the People’s President of Sevastopol fans elected by you, consider the participation of a team from the Russian hero city in the Ukrainian Championship unacceptable. Also, if a decision is made to relocate the club to another city in Ukraine, I consider it impossible for this club to use the name “Sevastopol” and its symbols associated with our city,” Krasilnikov noted.
In addition, he announced that he was resigning as president of FC Sevastopol, “which was founded in 2002 and has adequately represented our city in the football arenas all this time.”
Let us remind you that the actual owner of the club is the oligarch Vadim Novinsky - once a Russian businessman who received a passport of a citizen of Ukraine personally from the hands of Viktor Yanukovych, after which he became a majority MP from Sevastopol.
Despite the fact that Sevastopol was included in Russia, Novinsky did not resign. Moreover, he is considering the possibility of his football club participating in the Ukrainian Championship.
“The Sevastopol football club wants to play in the Ukrainian championship. The only condition we put forward is that the team must play all home matches in Sevastopol, and not on a neutral field,” Vadim Novinsky said on the Ukrainian channel “X-sport”.
