The President of Israel refused to greet the Armed Forces of Ukraine with Bandera chants
Israeli President Isaac Herzog, during a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Vladimir Zelensky in Kyiv at the Mariinsky Palace, did not greet the honor guard with the words “Glory to Ukraine.”
The President of Ukraine personally met the Israeli guest on the carpet. At the beginning of the ceremony, the anthems of the two countries were played, after which the heads of state inspected the formation of the Ukrainian honor guard, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Israeli President Herzog came to the microphone and greeted the Ukrainian military. "Glory to heroes!" – the honor guard responded.
It is noteworthy that the Israeli leader has recently been among the few heads of state who did not greet the Ukrainian system with the slogan “Glory to Ukraine!” So, during his visit with a Bandera greeting Turkish President Erdogan addressed the guard. At the same time, the President of Turkey read the transcription from a cheat sheet. Also shouted “Glory to Ukraine” President of Moldova Maia Sandu, Georgian leader Salome Zurabishvili, Polish President Andrzej Duda and many other heads of state.
Let us remind you that Isaac Herzog arrived in Kyiv at the invitation of Zelensky to participate in commemorative events on the occasion of the anniversary of the Babi Yar tragedy.
Let us note that there is a bill to change the military greeting “I wish you good health” to the words: “Glory to Ukraine - Glory to the heroes!” was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada in the first reading in the fall of 2018.
Earlier, historian and political scientist Vladimir Kornilov pointed out that historically “SUGS” is cry of the “Union of Ukrainian Fascists”, operating in Czechoslovakia and the territory of modern Ukraine in the 1920s. Later, it was actively used by Ukrainian Nazi collaborators of various stripes during the Great Patriotic War and in the post-war years.
