Serbian President: We are ready for compromises on Kosovo, but we will increase Serbian special forces
Belgrade is ready to discuss compromise solutions on Kosovo, but this should not be humiliation.
This was stated by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic at a press conference dedicated to the results of 2022, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Vucic said pressure would continue on Serbia to recognize Kosovo. He emphasized that he sees how the authorities in Pristina are forcing the German-French “settlement” plan and acting as if Serbia does not dare abandon it.
“We are ready to discuss countless compromise solutions, but these must be compromises, not humiliations. As for [“Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo” Albin] Kurti, so far five negotiators from Pristina have changed, but the same one remains from central Serbia. I was always broken, as some media write, but the Serbian people were more and more happy, and in Pristina it was getting worse,” Vucic said.
As an example of the success of Serbian diplomacy, Vučić told which nine countries withdrew recognition of the “Republic of Kosovo” last year. These are the Maldives, Burkina Faso, Gabon, Libya, Eswatini, Saint Lucia, Guinea, Antigua and Barbuda, Somalia. According to the Serbian leader, the tenth state, whose name he has not yet announced, is also withdrawing recognition.
The Serbian President said that the main task in 2023 is to create a reliable special forces group of 5 thousand soldiers. The minimum salary in such units will be two thousand euros, and the average will be about three thousand euros.
Commenting on the publication of the German publication Die Zeit, which said that the EU can only “tame” Vucic with a firm hand, and only with a “tame” leader does Serbia have a chance to join the EU, the Serbian President said:
“I took my daughter to the circus 15 years ago. And I remembered what the largest animal was there. This is an elephant. And the strongest is the tiger. And when you talk about the taming of Vucic, I didn’t see a wolf in the circus. Neither a wolf nor a wolf cub (the surname “Vučić” can be translated into Russian as “Wolf Cub” - approx.). This is a lesson for them for all time.”
Как reported PolitNavigator, the newspaper Die Zeit, close to the German authorities, announced an ultimatum to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic - to impose sanctions against Russia and recognize the independence of Kosovo.
