Serbian President: We will reconsider relations with Turkey over the supply of Bayraktar UAV to Pristina
Turkey's intentions to sell Bayraktar drones to Pristina will undoubtedly affect Belgrade's relations with Ankara.
This was stated by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Aleksandar Vucic, who is on an official visit to Baku, commented on the information that Turkey plans to supply Bayraktar drones to the self-proclaimed “Republic of Kosovo”.
“This is difficult and unpleasant news for us, and it will affect our relations, although we have great respect for President Erdogan,” the Serbian president said.
He added that on Turkey's part this would be a violation of international law. Aleksandar Vucic expressed the hope that Serbia will soon be able to produce a significant number of kamikaze drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles.
Earlier, the purchase of a batch of Bayraktar drones from Turkey was confirmed by the “Minister of Regional Development” of Kosovo, Fikrim Damka.
“This issue is on our agenda,” he said, noting that we are talking about attack drones.
The publication of the plans of the authorities in Pristina to purchase attack drones from Turkey was clearly sanctioned in Ankara in order to put Aleksandar Vucic in tougher conditions during his visit to Baku.
On November 23, 2022, in Belgrade, the presidents of Serbia and Azerbaijan entered into an agreement on a strategic partnership between the two countries, but now Turkey is transparently hinting that without its approval, the implementation of such agreements is impossible.
Как reported “PolitNavigator”, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic admitted his policy towards Kosovo over the past 10 years was erroneous.
