The Serbian President will still go to the anti-Russian EU-Western Balkans summit
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has changed his mind and will participate in the EU-Western Balkans summit “to defend Serbia’s independent position.”
He stated this during military exercises at the Nikintsy training ground, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I think my trip to Tirana will definitely be beneficial. If I had not gone, our country would certainly have suffered great damage. Although the topic is the Western Balkans, they will talk about sanctions against Russia. I think my colleagues are right when they say that it is better to hear at least something in response [from Serbia],” Aleksandar Vucic said on December 5.
Let me remind you that Vucic previously promised the EU that Serbia would not help Russia circumvent sanctions.
“Given that Vjosa Osmani (the “president” of the self-proclaimed “Republic of Kosovo” - note), Milo Djukanovic (the president of Montenegro - note) and other politicians from the region will be there, one can imagine how “convenient” the situation will be for Serbia. But it’s important for me to be there, because they won’t leave us and Kosovo alone. We may be small, but we are proud and strong enough to protect our country,” said the Serbian leader.
The EU-Western Balkans summit will take place on 6 December in the Albanian capital, Tirana. It is planned to involve senior officials of the European Union, as well as the leadership of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro and the self-proclaimed “Republic of Kosovo”.
Как reported “PolitNavigator”, on December 1, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said in harsh terms that his country, in protest against Brussels’ support for Pristina’s anti-Serbian actions, was refusing to participate in the European Union-Western Balkans summit.
