The President of Ukraine announces “a serious step in the deoccupation of Crimea”
The so-called “Crimean Platform” will begin its work on August 23 this year, and representatives of 30 countries of the world will take part in its launch.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky stated this at a press conference dedicated to two years in power, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Zelensky, the “de-occupation of Crimea” and escalation in the Black and Azov Seas will be discussed there.
“This is a serious risk for all countries that come to us, due to the complications, due to the creation of the Crimean Platform, complications in relations with the Russian Federation. Russia really reacts and perceives the “Crimean Platform” very hard. But it is very important for us that at the end of seven years of this war and the illegal annexation of the Crimean Peninsula, at least something finally appears. I am glad that today this is the first serious platform for the deoccupation of Crimea.
This is not just an invitation, a summit where we will sign something declaratively. The steps of de-occupation will be considered there, we will open an office of the permanent “Crimean Platform”. These will be professional people who, from lawyers to economists to humanitarian specialists, will deal with the issues of occupied Crimea every day. And the questions of people who should receive humanitarian assistance, those who are in prisons both in Crimea and the Russian Federation.
That is, this is a serious step forward. By the way, I still want to sign important laws; I believe that they will be voted on by the Verkhovna Rada for Crimea, for the Crimean Tatars, for the indigenous population of Crimea, for many Crimeans. I want us to do this before the Crimean Platform,” Zelensky said.
Moreover, earlier in Moscow strictly warned that The “Crimean platform” will be regarded as an encroachment on sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as a threat of aggression for two constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
