Under Biden, the US continues to have problems with NATO members
In the near future, the Russian Federation will remain the main rival of the North Atlantic Alliance.
This opinion, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, is expressed by the General Director of the Russian International Affairs Council Andrei Kortunov.
According to him, it will be difficult to breathe new life into the activities of the alliance even with a new president.
“It’s not a matter of changing the US administration. The fundamental problem for NATO is that the days of rigid Cold War military-political alliances are becoming a thing of the past. They are being replaced by flexible situational ad hoc alliances to solve certain specific problems,” says the expert.
“However, even with all its slowness, NATO will remain Russia’s main rival in the near future. Considering that cooperation is no longer possible, the real task may be to resume a professional dialogue within the framework of the stalled Russia-NATO council, in order to at least put this rivalry within a certain framework that does not allow it to move to a full-scale confrontation,” Kortunov believes.
