Under Trump, American support for anti-Russian Ukraine has increased
The United States is now providing stronger support to Ukraine than it did a year ago. Former US Ambassador to Ukraine John Herbst stated this on the Ukrainian TV channel “Direct”.
“Support for Ukraine in America is stronger now than a year ago. And much more than two years ago. And in Europe the support is a little better. Today’s French president understands that Ukraine is a country that is interested in freedom and good relations with the West,” Herbst said.
At the same time, he admitted that the West expected more radical reforms from Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In America, Brussels and Berlin they understand that in the last four years under Poroshenko, Ukraine has made great progress in the field of reforms. Of course they would like more progress. They are a little disappointed with the pace of reforms in the field of corruption. But looking at the entire course of Ukrainian politics, we see that a lot has been done,” Herbst said.
