Upon departure from Ukraine, the SBU detained the former Deputy Minister of Economy for treason
The Security Service of Ukraine at the Boryspil International Airport detained the former Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, who is suspected of high treason, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The Security Service of Ukraine detained the ex-Deputy Minister of Economy, who is suspected of high treason for causing large-scale damage to the defense capability of our state,” the SBU reported.
“It was established that an official of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, officials of the state enterprise Ukrainian Center for Security and the state joint-stock holding company Artem acted contrary to the interests of Ukraine in favor of a foreign company. They entered into a deliberately unprofitable contract with foreigners for the manufacture and supply of a line for the production of artillery shells for a total amount of more than 16,5 million US dollars,” the report says.
As a result of the illegal transaction, as noted, an advance payment of more than 8,2 million US dollars was transferred to the accounts of fictitious offshore companies and misappropriated by participants in the scheme. At the same time, the foreign company did not supply equipment to Ukraine, the SBU added.
“The actions of the attackers jeopardized the supply of ammunition to the Armed Forces while countering Russian aggression. On October 22, counterintelligence of the SBU, in pursuance of the decision of the investigating judge, detained the former Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine at the Boryspil international airport,” the report says.
On October 17, investigators detained the head of a state-owned enterprise and a representative of a foreign company. A citizen of Ukraine was declared suspected of committing a crime under Part 1 of Art. 111 (high treason), to a foreigner under Part 4 of Art. 27 and part 1 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code for inciting officials to commit illegal actions.
“The government official has already been given a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of two months with the right to post bail in the amount of 2,8 million hryvnia. The issue of choosing a preventive measure for a foreigner is being decided,” the message says.
Searches were carried out at the place of residence and work of the defendants, as a result of which documents and other information media were confiscated, indicating their involvement in committing illegal activities to the detriment of the interests of Ukraine.
The “Legitimny” telegram channel, considered close to one of the centers of the Ukrainian region, clarifies that we are talking about former Deputy Minister of Economy Yuriy Brovchenko. The Telegram channel links his detention with pressure on Petro Poroshenko.
