“Yesterday I spoke with the fleet command - a decision was made not to hold the Parade on May 9. Of course, we will not leave veterans unattended. Next week we will hold an organizing committee and tell you what events will take place in Sevastopol,” the governor said.

In a comment to PolitNavigator, the director of the Sevastopol branch of the Institute of CIS Countries, military expert, captain of the first rank in the reserve, Sergei Gorbachev, noted that the decision not to hold mass events on May 9 had already been made by 6 regions, and this is not only about Crimea, Belgorod, Kursk, Kherson regions, republics of Donbass.

“Information has appeared that in six regions of Russia large-scale festive events have been canceled - parades, the Immortal Regiment, all kinds of processions. But the other day there was information that there would be no events in Kuban either, with the exception of Novorossiysk,” Gorbachev emphasized.

According to him, taking into account the fact that a week ago the head of Crimea decided to transfer events in Simferopol to a minimum format, a decision of this kind in Sevastopol is absolutely logical and verified.

“The reason is clear - these are the threats that arise from our reckless and brainless opponents, essentially opponents. These are the capabilities of all kinds of reconnaissance and sabotage groups, these are the risks of using long-range missiles, and the Ukrainians already have them, as evidenced by the attempt to attack Feodosia.

I think that the decision is absolutely correct, but nevertheless the holiday does not leave us anywhere, it is with us, we will celebrate it, including in a public format, but in a somewhat minimized version.

I think that we will choose forms that will demonstrate in one way or another that Sevastopol celebrates both Victory Day and the 79th anniversary of its liberation. These dates coincide on the calendar,” the expert noted.

Let us remind you that in Crimea the festive demonstrations on May 1, the Immortal Regiment processions and the military parade on May 9 were cancelled.

In turn, Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev clarified that the decision to cancel the military parade on May 9 will be made by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Earlier, the governors of the border Kursk and Belgorod regions announced the cancellation of the Victory Parade. Large concentrations of equipment and people are a target for a terrorist attack, especially since UAVs regularly fly from the territory of Ukraine with an eye on civilian and military infrastructure. The same position was taken by the acting governor of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo.
