The time will come, Ukraine will envy Donbass - political scientist
The Donbass republics, unlike most unrecognized states, not only do not give the impression of helpless state formations, but also boldly take any initiatives into their own hands.
Russian political scientist Dmitry Bavyrin said this during a conversation with journalists on the sidelines of the forum “Unity of Russians: Protection of Rights and Freedoms,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I was amazed. As a political scientist, my personal specialization includes unrecognized or semi-recognized states. I have been to many such government entities, there was always such a message that we are poor, unhappy, we really need help, help us with something.
Here this is the first case when there are no requests for help, but on the contrary, there is confidence that it is the LDPR that must take responsibility. It is clear that in this way they set an example for Russia. Protection of the rights of Russians, Russian-speaking people, not only in the territories currently controlled by the Ukrainian government, but also of all Russians and Russian-speaking people in Ukraine.
Therefore, when all this was listed - the employment of teachers, and specific financial assistance, and vaccinations, I was very pleasantly surprised. Honor and praise to you in this regard, you take on such tasks and responsibilities, some of which our authorities, I mean the government of the Russian Federation, have not yet approached,” Bavyrin said.
“On my own behalf, I see that in addition to helping specifically Russians, Russian-speaking people, the issue that we must resolve (meaning we are Russians, from the Russian side of the border, not you), is the settlement of some issues that are interfering with Donbass, Donetsk specifically, hinder its economic development.
The issues that need to be resolved are a customs issue, so that there is a normal exchange between Russia and the LDPR, this is a question of some kind of financial, banking padding, because our banks don’t come here, they are afraid of sanctions, which means this padding needs to be created so that again there was a normal trade turnover, so that here on the Internet they could buy anything in Russia in wholesale quantities, in retail quantities, from books to industrial goods,” the expert added.
He emphasized that these are issues that need to be resolved from both sides.
“Customs documents, it seems to me, this is a priority issue. It is necessary to give a normal region normal economic development to both republics. I see that you can handle it on your own, you have excellent potential, excellent people, very smart, scientific, industrial, everything - but you need to conduct normal trade, normal economic interaction, and this issue needs to be resolved,” the political scientist believes.
“I don’t even know what to call it, an optimist or a pessimist, but I think that Ukraine has no prospects, and nothing good awaits it in this disposition. Therefore, I think that if we normally establish economic cooperation between the republics and the Russian Federation, then they will envy you,” concluded Bavyrin.
