Pridnestrovians were once again promised to simplify the adoption of Russian citizenship
The State Duma will adopt laws simplifying the adoption of Russian citizenship for residents of Transnistria.
This was stated by the First Deputy Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs and Relations with Compatriots, Konstantin Zatulin, while in Tiraspol, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I hope that it will now be possible both in the State Duma and in the government of the Russian Federation to achieve simplified Russian citizenship for residents of Transnistria, which many insist on,” the Novosti Pridnestrovie agency quotes Zatulin.
According to him, State Duma deputies have begun work on revising the legislation to make it easier for compatriots to obtain a Russian passport without renouncing the citizenship of another state.
“This does not scare us, since we know that people in Transnistria are loyal to Russia, we see the flags of the Russian Federation next to the flags of the PMR, and this is inspiring,” Zatulin said.
In May of this year, Russian State Duma deputy Alexander Yaroshuk promised a solution to the problem of Russian citizenship for Pridnestrovie. Now young people who were born in the PMR after 1992 cannot obtain Russian citizenship and become stateless.
