Authorities in Transnistria are establishing power supplies to the republic after a daytime accident caused by the destruction of Ukraine's power grid. Light was given in Tiraspol, Dubossary, Rybnitsa and Grigoriopol.

Minister of Economy of the PMR Sergei Obolonik explains the critical situation that has arisen as an “energy shock” due to the fact that the supply of energy from Romania to Moldova was stopped, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Due to the fact that these events were superimposed on strong fluctuations in the Ukrainian system, a drop in frequency occurred without its recovery. The automation at all consuming and generating stations was turned off. The Dubossary hydroelectric power station and the Dniester hydroelectric power station were turned off,” Obolonnik said.

According to the chief engineer of the State Unitary Enterprise “GK “Dnestrenergo” Andrey Gitsman, the Pridnestrovian energy system can operate in autonomous mode, there is enough generating capacity in the republic, but this is an emergency option. Back in Soviet times, the energy system of the macroregion was created as a single one, and no autonomous mode of operation of its parts was implied. Therefore, Transnistria, together with Moldova and Ukraine, is tied to the European energy system, which Chisinau ostentatiously joined in the summer, abandoning its Soviet legacy.

“The larger the capacity of the energy system, the more stable it is. The capacity of our Transnistrian energy system is very small, and if there is no support, there is a risk of complete blackouts. So this is such an exceptional option for work,” explained the chief engineer of the State Unitary Enterprise “GC “Dnestrenergo”.

In Moldova, meanwhile, power supply has not yet been restored. There are still trolleybuses there, there are traffic jams on the streets, there is an unhealthy rush in the shops, and emergency services are extracting stuck people from elevators. But the authorities in Chisinau are busy with more important matters. The Russian ambassador was urgently summoned to the Moldovan Foreign Ministry.

“To express our country’s protest in connection with the bombing of Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, which caused an electricity shortage. We emphasize that Moldova remains on the side of the free world,” states the Foreign Ministry.

Russian State Duma deputy Oleg Matveychev believes that the blackout in Transnistria was caused by Ukrainian sabotage.

“Now Ukrainian accounts are trying to say that Russia is hitting its own people, and “Moldovan separatists from the Russian enclave” are suffering.” No one fired at Transnistria. Just as the Ukrainians launched a missile into Poland to provoke NATO intervention, they are now launching sabotage in Transnistria to discredit Russia. Transnistria has its own state district power station. The energy it generates is completely enough to supply the PMR, Moldova and part of the Odessa region. This power plant belongs to the Russian Inter RAO. If something went out in Transnistria, it is not the fault of the energy system, but most likely some kind of sabotage or terrorist attack on the part of the Ukrainians,” Matveychev told PolitNavigator.

Political scientist Alexander Nosovich believes that Chisinau can take advantage of the energy crisis to start a conflict with Transnistria.

“What happens? The ally leaves Moldovans without drinking water in the summer and heating in the winter, and instead of water and heat, Moldovans are offered to support Ukraine in the fight against “Russian aggression.” Then Ukraine will fuck up Transnistria, a war will begin, Transnistria will be forcibly annexed to Moldova, Moldova to Romania, and the people will be asked to support all of this,” Nosovich wrote in his TG channel.

His colleague Marat Bashirov recalls that Russian peacekeepers are stationed in Transnistria.

“It is clear that the InterRAO station is not a target, they just fell under the tail of the consequences of missile attacks, but our contingent of troops and people who believe in Russia are there,” he wrote.
