Pridnestrovians came to negotiations with Moldovans with St. George ribbons
The Transnistrian delegation came to the next meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) with St. George ribbons, which were recently banned by the Moldovan authorities.
This was reported by the First Pridnestrovsky TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We are the descendants of the history that we consistently promote on our territory. We really do not welcome the decisions that were made in Moldova. As people who remember and honor the merits and exploits of their fathers, we decided that the St. George ribbon will always be with us on these holidays,” said Oleg Belyakov, co-chairman of the JCC from Pridnestrovie.
According to the TV channel, the Moldovan delegation reacted nervously to the Pridnestrovian demarche:
“We switched to the language of shouting and insults.”
The meeting had to be postponed for a week.
Moldova itself also had an ambivalent attitude towards bans on Victory symbols. Protests took place in Chisinau, Kamrat and Balti. But in the huge building of the National Hotel in the Moldovan capital, unknown people painted the St. George ribbon over the Ukrainian flag.
Promotion protests by local council deputies in Balti.
The black and orange ribbon is traditionally present in the life of Moldova. Stop complexes in many villages are decorated with it.
According to the new law, they must now be destroyed. However, new frescoes appear instead.
At a stop in the Taraclia region, unknown persons painted the letters “Z” and “V”, which are also prohibited in Moldova.
