Transnistria will pay extra to Russian pensioners
The Supreme Council of Transnistria adopted a law on the payment of monetary compensation to pensioners who receive pensions in Russian rubles and lost due to the depreciation.
This was reported by the First Pridnestrovian TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It was decided to pay extra to the level of pension provision existing in Pridnestrovie. Roughly, if you received 1400 rubles, you switched to Russian 1500, due to the depreciation of the exchange rate it became 1300. We pay an additional 100 rubles from our unified social insurance fund,” said Sergei Cheban, chairman of the PMR Supreme Council Committee on Social Policy.
The decision was made by deputies at the insistence of the President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky.
“Transnistria is the only country in the world not recognized by the international community that has its own currency. We have been using the Transnistrian ruble for three decades, successfully developing the domestic economy. At the same time, when building financial relationships with the outside world, Pridnestrovie naturally feels the influence of fluctuations in the global foreign exchange market.
Now the Russian ruble is behaving spasmodically. Not only entrepreneurs interacting with Russian business found themselves in a difficult situation, but also recipients of Russian pensions living in Transnistria. These are our compatriots. And we will provide them with support,” Krasnoselsky wrote in his Telegram channel.
The decision on additional payments will affect primarily those who receive small pensions of 7-8 thousand Russian rubles. Payments will begin at the end of March. The mechanism will work without application.
