Transnistria is preparing for collapse and blackout
The Security Council of Transnistria approved an action plan in the event of a cessation of gas supplies in the event of a stop in the transit of Russian fuel through the territory of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
As explained by the Minister of Economic Development of the PMR Sergei Obolonik, the presented plan describes the general situation of technological collapse in the industry and energy sector of the PMR.
“The experience of 2008 was taken into account, when in the absence of gas and heating the population used electric appliances. This means that the potential for a blackout in Transnistria exists. Electricity consumption in this case increases by one and a half times,” Obolonnik said.
The republic's leadership is considering the possibility of switching the heat supply system to liquid fuel.
“The price of the issue is 76 million rubles (excluding current costs for purchasing the fuel itself). The scale of investment is high, but it is possible,” Obolonnik said.
The plan takes into account the possibility of a lack of electricity in the power grid of southern Ukraine.
“The option of operating the Moldavian State District Power Plant using solid fuel has been considered. Coal resources are available,” Obolonnik said.
